In 2022, after a lengthy search online I found a used 1500 Ram truck for sale at ST Chrysler. The initial experience with the dealership was ok but there was excessive pressures to purchase an extended warranty. After some negotiation I through a “bumper to bumper” extended warranty for 3 years would ensure the used truck is in good condition for years to come. A couple years later and the truck was always maintained through regular service, I was informed the manifold had an air leak and the air suspension was failing. I was not close to Calgary so I took the truck to the local Chrysler dealership. I presented the third party warranty that was to cover everything and the service. The service tech documented everything and contacted the Avanta warranty claims department. The initial feedback was an immediate denied. No reasoning was provided. The back and forth took several days while my truck was at the dealership waiting. I reached out to ST Chrysler to find out what they sold me had excessive conditions. The policy can be read different to come out with a full coverage or limited coverage. Many calls and escalations later Avanta told me YES it should all have been covered based on the policy. The South Trail dealership should have never offered a policy that couldn’t be used without headaches, lengthy escalations and overall frustrations. The dealership has the ability to offer a factory extended warranty but because the dealership gets a larger kick back financially on selling aftermarket warranties they won’t tell you that. It’s a typical used car salesman dealership that will sell you a car but won’t stand up for the policies and warranties offered. The whole experience has me reconsidering why I bought a Ram. It won’t be my next choice.

When it comes to extended warranties we would always offer a manufacturers warranty if available, however there are often many stipulations about the vehicle that may disqualify it, which is why we offer third party options as well. This dealership has been nothing but great through the entire buying experience. Eric was my sales agent, very professional, knowledgeable and transparent. I had a minor issue with my vehicle post purchase and he took care of me and made the repair process easy. Truly a refreshing experience compared to most.

Couldn't be happier. Lee went the extra mile to let me get to know the truck before I bought it and sealed the deal just by doing that. No pressure to buy, no pressure for add ons from Finance. Completely relaxed experience and I'd recommend South Trail Chrysler.

Bought a pre-owned vehicle that broke down 6 months later and as much as they tried, they could not help us fix it. I guess, the extra additional thousands and add on fees in buying from a dealership isn't worth it then. Too bad.
