Not so honest repair shop

I own a vehicle that was purchased from the Dilawri used car center. I purchased the lifetime oil change option so my wife returns there often to get oil changes. The last change they asked if we would like to have our muffler serviced as it was loud and had holes in it. They informed me they could repair the existing muffler and have it re-attached charging me only 1 hour and service parts. I agreed to this and let them proceed. They then call to inform me that they cant repair it and they must replace it, which would be ok but they ended up charging me for 2 hours labour plus the cost of the muffler. I called minute muffler who quoted me a replacement with a labour time of half an hour. I would have paid for 1 hour service time, however I feel the 2 hour charge was excessive. This morning my wife called the service tech desk to inquire about an error code that just appeared on the odometer. The error code was 9as cap. The service tech told her that it was most likely a bad busbar, an electrical component. I quickly googled the error code and realized that the code was even trying to spell out what was wrong. A loose Gas Cap. 9as cap - gas cap. Even I as I was writing the number down from my wife telling me over the phone I could read it out, and google confirmed this for me. I really think that this service department tried to lie and get my wife to come in for some unnecessary repairs. Based on my experiences here I would strongly advise potential clients of the service shop to find somewhere else to go.

It was a hard fought negotiation but I eventually got the vehicle I wanted at the price I wanted.
