So my wife's Chevy Sonic gear shifter stopped working she took it to SMP ( Saskatoon Motor Products) they charged her $175 for looking at it. Then told her the part to fix it would be $200 and labor $300 so $500 in total with $175 examination fee. I looked on YouTube there's a five minute video on how to fix it yourself and I got a $20 part from Sherwood chev Crooks SMP I think so

Hi Sandy - there was a charge for diagnosis, and for inspecting the wiring and shift solenoid. The technician lubricated the shifter and made the shift button temporarily usable so that you could take the car and drive it while you considered the repair, and so that the key would release from the ignition. We had recommended that the shift control assembly be replaced, and the same recommendation would have been made whether the repair was warranty or customer pay. Based on your comments, however, I did some research and found that there exists a bulletin for a repair of a cracked shifter handle knob. Although this is not technically the concern for which the vehicle came in, the fix for it might take care of your issue. If you have already purchased the part, I would like to offer to install it at no charge. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 306-242-0276. Dan and his team were quick and efficient, had me in and out in no time, but I didn't feel hurried along either. Dan sat with me and talked as we waited for financing and even stayed late to make sure everything was set to go. He hunted down the truck I wanted and got me into it. Done deal, thanks dan!

Dan's and his team provided me with a quick transaction that was well planned out prior to my arrival through effective email communication. Sales was great, hate going to the finance guy who tries sells you loads of stuff you don't want. Finance guy should know the product better if he wants half a chance. 7% GST - glad I found that casual mistake. Got a cheque as fast as I paid it out (at my request) Good Job Dan B and Team Interesting how I was coaxed in - SMP wanted my Cruze to sell on , like there were people waiting for it. Not an eyebrow raised when I said I was going to sell it myself. Haha sales tactics, guess they work. Still got the Cruze if you want it $8000 its yours SMP.
