We recently purchased a Honda HR-V from West City Honda. It was a good experience, starting with the friendly greeting when we walked in the showroom doors. We had the pleasure of working with sales consultant Spencer Sudds, whose friendly demeanor and genuine interest in helping us find the best car for us stood out. Spencer was knowledgeable, listened to our preferences and didn't try to push a sale. He was transparent about pricing and there were no hidden surprises. He accompanied us on our test drive and pointed out the unique features of the vehicle, but allowed us the time and space to personally explore the car's performance. He was genuinely interested in our opinions as to the pros and cons of the vehicle. Even after the sale, Spencer continued to check in, ensuring we were satisfied with our purchase and offering assistance with any post-sale questions. In summary, Spencer's professionalism, knowledge and customer-based approach made car buying - always a stressful time for us! - a pleasant experience. We must also give Financial Services Manager Stephanie Elder a shout out for her professionalism and provision of clear explanations during the financing process. We highly recommend working with them if you visit West City Honda.

Unfortunately, I have to say they only wasted our time. We went there from another city to make a deal with them due to their 5 star review on google map. We supposed to call them when we make our final decision and we did. They sent us the contract for leasing a CRV to sign. We signed the contract for them to finalize our lease in the same day but they contacted us and said we have limited inventory and cannot deal with you. You can’t count on them.

EDIT: Shane's response, on behalf of the offending dealership, is so far from the truth that it would be simple to drag out all the documentation and simply post it here. But it would mean this review would be impossibly-long to read. But the dealership response is not meant for the senior they took advantage of. It's to try to convince you the customer is somehow wrong. An attempt to somehow make what they did okay. The reader should bear that in mind. REVIEW This company deals in bad faith with customers who wish to purchase a new vehicle, employing well-known trickery to squeeze every possible dime from your pockets. A senior citizen wished to trade in his truck for a new one. An expensive one. An offer was made for his truck and that offer was accepted. But, the dealership stated, it could be a few months before the new truck was delivered and, in the meantime, the customer would be required to refrain from driving his own truck except for a few measly kilometers each month. Fast forward one year and the new truck was still not delivered. "Don't worry!", the dealership stated, "Your truck will be here soon!". More months went by and the senior was getting concerned. Finally, the dealership called: "We have your truck. Will you finance it?" The senior replied that he would be paying cash, and suddenly, there was a problem. After much hand-wringing at the dealership, they explained that they would no longer be able to pay the senior citizen the agreed-upon price for HIS trade-in. It had been "too long" and "the market had changed". They conveniently forgot that the reason for the delay was the dealership themselves and most certainly not the fault of the customer who diligently drove other vehicles in order to keep the kilometers down as requested. The senior also had to pay for normal maintenance and insurance on this largely-parked truck too, mind you... but none of that mattered to the dealership - they just wanted more money than what they themselves had agreed upon. Then, in a final act of indecency, suddenly there was another new mysterious customer who had, according to the dealership, purchased the same truck just a couple short days before the senior citizen in question. The dealership had to decide, according to them, who would receive the truck. When the senior replied that he would be able to pay cash for the truck, suddenly the dealership stated "Sorry, we gave it to the other person, now there is no truck for you". They then had the audacity to try to convince the senior that he should come up with several thousand more dollars to upgrade to a higher-trim truck... one that he did not order. When he asked them to honour the agreed-upon price for his trade-in, they again refused, but after a lot of pressure, agreed to honour the trade in price. The trouble is, they simply marked up the upgraded truck by the same amount, actually charging MORE than MSRP! Once called out on this behaviour, Shane informed him that they had "decided" to give the senior citizen back his original deposit, with no confirmation for reneging on the deal nor any compensation for insisting he vastly reduce the mileage on his on trade-in vehicle while he waited for his new vehicle to arrive. Essentially, this dealership tried to pull some dirty tricks to force the customer finance and when that didn't work they tried to upsell him into a truck that costs thousands more. We've all come to expect that, for the most part, you're going to encounter scuzzy sales tactics at a car dealership. However, to attempt to squeeze a retiree for several thousand dollars after holding his OWN TRUCK hostage for more than a year is a whole other level. All because he wouldn't accept their lousy finance terms. Don't trust this location if you've got an elderly relative looking to purchase a vehicle. They'll smell blood and they're not afraid to misrepresent themselves if necessary, even to someone a bit more vulnerable to double-talk and greasy sales tactics.

Hello Bill, Chris and Kevin, We are very surprised that you have left this review after two and a half years. We will take this opportunity to share our story about your experience here. In November 2021, a deal was made to trade your 2019 Honda Ridgeline Sport for a 2022 Honda Ridgeline Sport. At this time, new vehicle inventory was very limited and you were on a very specific trim and color. We made the deal and agreed that we would honor your trade in value providing that that condition of the 2019 Ridgeline did not change and the KMs were within a reasonable window. Unfortunately we could not take your 2019 Ridgeline in on trade until your 2022 Ridgeline arrived. We were in contact with you monthly to update you on the vehicle order status and even offered alternative options such as different colors, or trims. In November 2022, Honda Canada notified us that they were no longer building 2022 models. We made a final offer to upgrade to a 2023 Ridgeline EXL, honor your trade value from 12 months prior and provide some compensation for the price difference between the 2022 and 2023. You respectfully declined. At this time, we exercised our right to refund your deposit. We apologize that we were not able to secure for you a vehicle that was very limited in availability, but are confident that we did everything possible to make things right. At no time was it suggested that you switch the deal terms from a cash deal to a finance deal. Doing so would not have guaranteed you a vehicle. We hope that you are able to look past this experience and accept that West City Honda provided many opportunities to secure your business. Cheers,
