New 2017 VW Golf -Bytek Automobiles Ottawa This note discusses my excellent experiences with Bytek Automobiles of Ottawa, with the purchase of a new 2017 VW Golf Highline. My older 2011 Golf TDI was identified in the diesel buy-back offer from VW, so I needed to go shopping for a new car, even though I loved the diesel VW I had. I looked across many manufacturers and test-drove those that I thought might offer what my 2011 VW gave me: quality manufacturing, safety, handling, fuel economy, etc. I also wanted the latest safety features: back-up camera, blind-spot detection, lane-assist, brake-assist, TPMS, cross-traffic detection, etc. It was a frustrating analysis that eventually brought me back to VW’s new Golf Highline. This will be my sixth VW, and over the years I have had the opportunity to deal with every dealer in Ottawa. These experiences have have sometimes been quite frustrating, as I found that many dealerships are focused more on making money, than on providing quality service. When I needed quality service, I drove the extra distance to go to Bytek. They have always come through with the help I needed. Their Service department and parts desk are A-One. The Service department operates like a repair garage rather than an airline waiting room. This time, Bytek helped me to decide on the model and the options I wanted. Derrik Francoeur was instrumental in helping me get through the model options to narrow my choice down to the Golf. While he did not appreciate my many email questions, he dealt with me very professionally. Then, because I was dealing via email with a number of dealerships to get the best price on the model I wanted, I got a call from an out-of-town dealer, with a “better price.” I called Bytek to see what they might do, and that day, J.D. Brown, another excellent sales rep jumped on the issue, discussed it with Bytek managers, and came back to me with a deal offer. So I decided to get the car from an Ottawa dealer: Bytek. Then the day of the buy-back/trade-in transaction came. I had to meet Ricepoint at Bytek and return my 2011 VW, get the check from VW, the trade-in value agreed in the buy-back, and pick-up the new car. I had to deal with a third sales representative: Alex Grigorescu. Alex, like the other two sales representatives was very knowledgeable and professional in his dealings with me. He explained the cars’ options, and what he considered was worth knowing. He helped set-up bluetooth, and went way beyond in his desire to help me with a new VW model, and so many new features. It was a pleasure to discuss these options/features with someone so enthusiastic and helpful. So at the end of the day, I have to say that this Dealership has their act together. They are focussed on customer service and work as a team to get results. I salute them all, and suggest that if you need a new VW… go and see one of these guys, or all of them. :-) Donald
