My brother got a Camaro from these guys and our experience was REALLY BAD!!! A contract was signed which promised us that everything is going to be new. We’ve only had the car for 2 MONTHS and we noticed that the tires keep losing air pressure. We went to SMP to get it fixed but were surprisingly told that the tires were no longer fixable and that they have to be replaced. This shouldn’t happen because the car is brand new. They offered to replace the tires BUT the expense is on us which means we’re going to have to pay $$$ for it. We also found out that the tires given to us were NOT NEW and HAD BEEN USED!!! Literally NOT what we were promised! Not to mention, patches were found in the tires!!! NEW TIRES DO NOT COME WITH PATCHES IN THEM!! What we experienced with SMP was completely disappointing. Now, we have to get a new set of tires for our car and pay for service, which is not supposed to happen if only they have given us new ones.

Hello Antoinette, I have had a chance to review your concern. I have spoken with your relative who brought the Camaro in with the punctured tire. The tire still had a piece of metal debris sticking out of it when it was brought in, and this debris is what punctured the tire and caused it to go flat. Apparently, the car was first driven to an outside shop, and they correctly refused to patch the tire because it is what is called a "run-flat" tire, and it had been driven on while flat. When run-flat tires are driven on with no, or low, inflation the internal structure of the sidewall is compromised, rendering them unsafe for further use. Run-flat tires are great insurance against getting stranded due to a flat, allowing you to get to a safe, convenient location for a tow or a tire replacement. They also save space because you do not need to carry a spare tire and jack, or an inflator kit. When it comes time to replace them, it can seem expensive, but run-flat tires are not significantly more costly than comparable modern non-run-flat tires. If further clarification is required, or assistance needed, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. It would be our pleasure to assist with tire replacement, or any other service, to ensure safety and reliability. Michael Kocsis, Assistant Service Manager, SMP.
