Disorganized, blame game

I arrived at the dealership at the scheduled time to sign the papers and take delivery of my new High Country Silverado with my wife and 18 month old daughter. We were signing the last couple of forms when I noticed that the price was different than what I had agreed to. The finance guy pleaded that the numbers must be correct as that is what was given to him from sales. I retrieved my handwritten notes from my other vehicle to prove to him that they were trying to charge me around $1000 extra. Once I convinced him, he called the sales manager who needed convincing as well. We identified that I had been charged for accessories that weren't delivered or wanted. The sales manager proceeded to blame the new salesperson that I was dealing with for filling out the paperwork incorrectly. By the time they had the new paperwork ready an hour had passed. My daughter was restless and whining to leave by this time. While reviewing the new paperwork I found one more accessory that they forgot to remove for $120. I showed the finance guy again but told him that I couldn't wait again for new paperwork to be drafted. We agreed with the salesperson that he would have a gift card issued for the difference. The next day I came in for the gift card. It was for exactly $120. (Sales taxes were not refunded) by this time I was tired of trying to fight and decided to cut my losses. The 2 senior employees that I worked with seemed more worried about passing the blame than ensuring that they made things right. I don't care who's fault it is I just expect mistakes to be fixed.

Easy to talk to with helpful knowledgable sales person

Fast. Knowledgeable. To the point. Minimal negotiating. Would like to have the option of opting out of hearing the protection plan options next time I buy a vehicle. Feel I have that right.

Everything went really well here. Can't say enough good things about Alan and the folks at SMP. But while we were initially offered 4.9% on our car loan, after opting out of the "service contract" add-ons, we were surprised to find that the sales associate had raised the interest rate to 7% without mentioning the change. So we signed assuming 4.9% was to stay the same. Yes, I know, buyer beware, read the fine print etc. etc. but in my opinion this is a very important piece of information that was glossed over. Too bad, I'd have given SMP more business and a 5 star rating otherwise.

Took a bit of time to research this one to see what happened because we take your comments and concerns seriously and there's no question that we'd like to keep your business. I spoke with Allen and reviewed all of the paperwork involved in your deal to see if there was an error somewhere. On that paperwork, including what Allen went over with you when the payments were being worked out, everything was based on 6.9%. That's what was detailed in your contract - I would be more than happy to go through the paperwork with you if you have any questions, or want confirmation. Is it possible that as rates were being discussed in the initial conversations there was talk that your interest rate could range anywhere from 4.9% - 6.9% and that 4.9% stuck in your head? When it comes down to it, we take the approval we're given from the bank and go with that and whether you accept a service contract or not will not impact your interest rate. Please contact us if you have any further questions or concerns, we would be glad to discuss this with you.

My buying experience with smp was problem free and I love my Chevy, but had issues every single time I used the service dept. They did not look after or care for my Colorado when it was in their care. The personnel level of customer service was laughable. At first, the service reps make you feel like customer number one but soon enough you realize that you're just a forgettable number in their system. Never going back.

This was my first purchase of a new to me SUV...Allen was so wonderful with explaining absolutely everything!! I really felt I had all the information to make a big decision. After the sale he walked me through the whole building introduced me to people in other departments...i really enjoyed this experience and have told anyone who will listen!! Your amazing at your job Allen!!! Thanks so much for helping my family!!!!
