I bought a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie from South Trail Chrysler back in October 2016 which had a Gold+power train) extended package (411). I was planning a two week long trip into B.C with the travel trailer this summer so I took it into The Gear Center for an early oil and lube change. When they removed the rear diff cover to drain they notices the massive amount of filings on the Magnetic check bolt in the cover and found the Carrier was moving side to side by 1/4" and advised not to tow my trailer till it was fixed as it was still under manufacturers warranty. I took it in the next day to South Trail Chrysler and book an appointment for the following Monday. About 6 hours later they called and basically placed blame on me for the Carrier bolts and Adjusters being loose and noticed markings on the bolts to indicate they were loosened but never re-torqued. Quote from the report .... Backlash way out of adjustment. New adjusters not needed. Removed read diff cover, found side adjusters way out of adjustment. Completed backlash adjustment and checked gear pattern. All checked good. "Vehicle may develop bearing and/or gear noise in the future due to the excessive amount of backlash that it had when it arrived" My issue is, the only mechanics to work on this truck have been so far South Trail Chrysler prior to my purchase with diff issues. I'm now waiting for the previous owner to get me the full service records as proof so I can walk back into the dealership with the proof it was Chrysler/Dodge Technicians that had their greasy hands on this truck for past repairs and forgot to tighten the bolts he loosened. This should of been repaired right the first time. Now that the warranty is up this coming October/2017 I may be stuck with a complete rear diff overhaul in the very near future. They did not even remove the carrier to inspect the bearing and races for gouging and pitting from running loose now for at least a year pulling my trailer.

My sales guy Roger Fenez was very friendly and helpful. Open to answering all questions and concerns and didn't seem too rushed to spend time with me. The finance manager was also very nice and not pushy on the extended warranty. I love my new truck.

Not every experience is the best at a dealership for servicing your vehicle. Usually it takes longer and costs more. However, last week I went in to have a finicky "check engine light" warning looked into. It had been turning on/off for some months but was always off or functioning normally when I went somewhere to have it assessed. This time it was on. Ryan in the service dept. was quick to have it looked at (15 min) and when he came to get me to fill me in on the details it was only a minor soft wear upgrade that was need.... and he informed we that they had just gone ahead and fixed that. for me. Have a good day, he saids! In ,out and fixed in 15-20min. I won't expect that to happen most times, but it was awesome that it did happen! Thanks guys :) -Don Findlay
